Zynga IPO Status Update

Zynga Listing Day2 Social Media Round Up for December 16th

Zynga, the famous social gaming company finally hit the stock market today and began trading on Nasdaq under the symbol: ZNGA. The company planned to raise as much as $1 billion USD from their IPO. Unfortunately, the stock didn’t perform that well this morning, possibly due to current stock market fluctuations. The stock opened at $11, but quickly dropped to $9.50. Since then the stock price has bounced between $9.25 and $11.50. Performance is quite different when compared to Linkedin’s IPO in May, where the stock price doubled, or to the more recent Groupon IPO in November that saw an increases of up to 40%.

Social Networks Updates Go Live

Twitter

The new Twitter, which features several major changes to the web interface and mobile apps finally went live earlier this week. Major changes include:

  • Home Page – now embeds videos, photos and conversations directly into the timeline
  • Connect Section – where user can view engagement from his/her followers including conversations, mentions, or retweets
  • Discover – which allows user to browse topics based on hashtags, locations or interests
  • Profile Page – centralizes everything around interests and provide easier access for users to browse through interesting content
  • Tweet Button – which appears on the right of the top bar and lets user easily share thoughts and content anywhere within Twitter

How do you like the new Twitter so far?

Facebook’s Timeline

Some of you might have been using a beta Facebook Timeline since it was announced at the September Facebook F8 Conference. For many people though, the Facebook Timeline is a brand new feature, as Facebook opened up the Timeline to every user this week. To enable your Timeline, simply go to the Facebook Timeline Page and click the “Get Timeline” button at the bottom right. Facebook will give you seven days to edit and preview your Timeline before it is published to your friends.

Please see the official Facebook video below for more details

Here is a very creative and beautiful Timeline design that could give you some inspiration (from the same person!)

Social Timing Insights – Infographic

Social Timing is one of the most important factors to maximize the reach of social network updates. For businesses, it means publishing content when the highest amount of potential customers are listening, as this can increase user engagement, and ultimately drive sales. ArgyleSocial published a great Infographic regarding B2B and B2C Social Timing that sheds a lot of insight on the subject.
