Barn Raising

Maggie Fox, March 2 2010

The best way for groups to get started using a collaborative or knowledge-sharing platform is a Barn Raising workshop. The term barn raising comes from events held in agrarian communities; people got together to help one or more of their fellow farmers build something bigger than they could possibly build on their own. This co-operation was critical to the social fabric and economic well-being of the community, and was also an important means of passing down knowledge and expertise. During a Barn Raising workshop, members of your team will plan their collaboration and knowledge sharing strategy together and get started using the appropriate tools.
